Don Quixote Garden in South London

Philip Sutton, 1987

© check with DACS

Cheltenham has examples of earlier works by the London Group but this is the first painting by Philip Sutton to enter the collection. This is a good example of his work and shows his interest in vibrant colour and the exploration of surface and depth. This work is particularly interesting as it depicts the artist's own London garden which gives the picture a particular intimacy.
