Euphrates

This work is named after the Euphrates river which flows from Turkey to the Persian Gulf. The flow of the river is represented by the curving lines running across the inner surface of the piece. The geometric patterning and symmetry show the Islamic influence on Cassell's work. The artist uses heavily grogged clay that allows her to utilise relatively thick surfaces to carve to the desired depth. The artist studied and lives in Lancashire.
