Jerwood Necklace

Jacqueline Mina, 2000

© Jacqueline Mina

This necklace is a testament to the artist's proficiency as a goldsmith, through her intricate working and use of granulation technique, and expresses her fascination with the surface of the metal through the fusion of fine gold on to the platinum. The subtle coloration and texture created through the fusion process, together with the playful interaction of individual components of the necklace create a sense of drama and movement when the object is seen against the body. This necklace was among the work selected by Mina to represent her in the Jerwood Prize 2000, which she won.
