RankleÂ’s work links landscape art to changes in attitude to the environment, manipulating and cross-referencing styles and techniques from diverse periods and cultures. Elements of traditional Chinese painting have been combined with more modern concepts, such as Abstract Expressionism. Although Rankle presents his work in different formats, he typically paints within a traditional picturesque framework. This painting is part of a gift of six paintings to five museums through the Art Fund.
