Wander the light filled atrium and discover a diverse collection of objects including a huge 12-foot long South Pacific feast bowl, a 19th-century lighthouse lens and the fascinating Millennium Clock. Other galleries explore Scottish history and culture, from the Palaeolithic era to pop culture. You can also discover objects from around the world, including Egyptian mummies, and the best of decorative art, design and fashion.
Science and technology
See examples of pioneering innovations such as Dolly the Sheep, a preserved specimen of the world's first cloned mammal. The family-friendly Explore gallery offers hands-on games and interactive exhibits. The museum also delves into the realms of natural history, showcasing fascinating specimens from around the world, including awe-inspiring dinosaur skeletons and exotic animal displays.
