A talk by Doctoral Researcher, writer and art historian Aurella Yussuf in response to Claudette Johnson: Darker Than Blue.
Our Lunchtime talks are delivered by staff, students, academics and researchers at the Barber and our wider University of Birmingham community and beyond. Focused on key works in our exhibitions and collection, the talks take place in the gallery and are an informal and interesting way of looking closely at artwork.
In response to Claudette Johnson: Darker Than Blue, join Doctoral Researcher, writer and art historian Aurella Yussuf, whose work focusses on the work of Black artists in Britain and beyond. As a founding member of interdisciplinary art collective Thick/er Black Lines and co-creator of the Blk Art Map, Yussuf reflects upon Claudette Johnson’s work, situating it within the arts market and her ongoing research.
