Join us for a fascinating and lively online talk by poet-artist Paula Claire.
Join us for a fascinating and lively online talk by poet-artist Paula Claire, who will present aspects of her lifelong practice of concrete, visual, sound and performance poetries. Works by a number of experimental Italian practitioners represented in her extensive Archive will also be explored, including those of her mentor and friend Mirella Bentivoglio and other associates.
Paula Claire (b. 1939) was associated with the British Poetry Revival of the 1970s and a member of Konkrete Canticle, a poetry collective founded by Bob Cobbing, which performed works for multiple voices and instruments. She has exhibited her poetry internationally since 1969, as well as creating site-specific performance pieces that have drawn on the vocal contributions of her audiences – in particular, focusing on environmental themes centred on the ginkgo tree. She is founder and curator of the Paula Claire Archive: fromWORDtoART – International Poet-Artists and her work is featured in the Estorick’s current Breaking Lines exhibition.
