The White Rose of Gask - The Life and Songs of Carolina Oliphant

1 June 2025
15:00
£15

Carolina Oliphant, Lady Nairne, a native of Strathearn, wrote some of Scotland’s best-loved songs.

Carolina Oliphant, Lady Nairne, wrote some of Scotland’s best-loved songs and yet little is generally known of her life. A native of Strathearn, she is second only to Burns as a writer of Scots song. This is a chance to learn about her life and to hear some of her songs as well.

Freeland Barbour is a musician, composer, radio and record producer, and writer from Glen Fincastle in Atholl. He has long been a central figure in the Scottish music world. He is a direct descendant of Lady Nairne’s eldest sister. Gerda Stevenson is a singer, songwriter, actor, director, playwright, and poet. Her name is well-known in all these fields in Scotland and beyond.
