Discover Rasheed Araeen's diverse artistry, exploring British identity, migration and innovation.
As part of a triple bill of exhibitions celebrating global majority artists, the RWA introduces the groundbreaking artistry of Rasheed Araeen to Bristol for the first time. A striking collection of Araeen's vibrant, abstract sculptures are on display, and guests are encouraged to interact with and rearrange colourful cubes surrounding a central Reading Room.
Alongside these pieces, influenced by Araeen's engineering background and exposure to Islamic geometry and architecture, will be representational paintings and collages spanning from the 1950s to the present day. Araeen's exploration of British identity, belonging, and migration is bold and innovative, evoking both joy and posing thought-provoking questions, demanding attention, contemplation, and engagement.
