Contemporary artists explore Islamic influence in prestigious prize.
Exhibited at the V&A, the Jameel Prize is an international award for contemporary art and design inspired by Islamic tradition. Open to artists and designers from any ethnic, religious or cultural background, the prize is now in its seventh year, with this year’s edition devoted to moving image and digital media work.
With diverse practices spanning film and photography, animation, installation, sound, sculpture and virtual reality, the exhibition presents seven shortlisted artists and explores the ways they pose questions around identity, history, and community.
