Dive into the links between archaeology, colonialism and cultural memory in sculpture, film and installation.
Ali Cherri’s multidisciplinary practice spans sculpture, film, installation and drawing, exploring the complex relationship between archaeology, history and contemporary identity. Using artefacts as a focal point, his work reflects on the displacement, excavation and preservation of cultural heritage, questioning how history is shaped and controlled.
With a particular focus on Lebanon and the wider Middle East, Cherri’s work addresses colonial legacies, national memory and the impact of political violence. Developed in partnership with Vienna Secession, this exhibition marks an expanded chapter of his ongoing research, including newly commissioned works.
