Identical twin artists explore themes of memory and nostalgia in their first major exhibition.
Identical twins Laura and Rachel Lancaster bring their distinctive painting practices together for the first time in this major exhibition at BALTIC.
Laura Lancaster’s expressive, often dreamlike paintings draw on found photographs, abstracting figures into ambiguous and haunting imagery. Rachel Lancaster’s work, in contrast, isolates and magnifies overlooked moments—small details from everyday life rendered with a cinematic sense of atmosphere.
Though stylistically distinct, both artists engage with memory, nostalgia and the act of looking, creating a compelling dialogue between their works in this landmark exhibition.
Presented in the Northumbria University Gallery, Level 3.
