Humber Street Gallery
With a National Art Pass you get
Opened as part of Hull UK City of Culture 2017, Humber Street Gallery is a significant contemporary arts space for the city.
Showcasing a diverse, year-round program of exhibitions featuring local, national, and international artists, Humber Street Gallery in the heart of Hull’s Fruit Market cultural quarter, is open to everyone to experience free world-class exhibitions and events.
Exhibitions and installations
The gallery’s two main exhibition spaces are constantly being refreshed with new and exciting works. Past exhibitions include XXXXX: Fifty Years of Subversion and the Spirit by British artist Jamie Reid, and Baa's House by visual artist Hetain Patel. You can also expect to find permanent installations throughout the building, like the intriguing Dead Bod mural by local artist Noh One, which takes centre stage in the cafe.
Events and workshops
Humber Street Gallery’s ambition is to transform into a multi-artform and multifunctional creative centre. The gallery offers a full program of events, performances, and workshops that complement the exhibitions. Open House Workshops provide a platform for artists and cultural producers to develop their skills through sessions led by established professionals. Thursday Lates is another event series featuring new commissions inspired by the current exhibitions.
Rooftop bar
After exploring the art, unwind at the Humber Street Gallery cafe-bar. This spot offers coffee, tea, light bites, and even alcoholic drinks, all sourced from local suppliers. Alternatively, head up to the rooftop bar, where you can take in breathtaking views of the Fruit Market and the Humber while enjoying your drink and pondering the thought-provoking exhibitions.
