Established in 1975, Talbot Rice Gallery is based in the historic Old College, designed by Robert Adam and completed by William Henry Playfair. Part of the University of Edinburgh, the gallery collaborates with a range of departments, academics and students to produce its exhibitions.
Contemporary Art Exhibitions

Historical setting
The gallery is housed in a 19th-century neoclassical building. The Georgian Gallery, in particular, offers a stunning backdrop for exhibitions, and was also where the young Charles Darwin (a medical student at the university in the 1820s) honed his passion for Natural History.
Get involved
The gallery offers educational programs, workshops, and talks, making it a great place to learn more about art and engage with the creative process. There are often activities that cater specifically to children and families, making it a great place to introduce young people to the world of art.
