Haslemere Thespians production of Shakespeare’s most popular comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Haslemere Thespians will be bringing Shakespeare’s most popular comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, to glorious life, in the gardens of Haslemere Museum on June 19 to 21, Midsummer Weekend, that magical time of year when the invisible fabric that separates the fairy world from ours is at its thinnest.
Hermia flees Athens with her lover, Lysander but is followed into the forest by her would-be husband, Demetrius and her best friend, Helena. Little do they know they are about to intrude on a feud between Oberon, the king of the fairies and his queen, Titania.
Also stumbling into the forest is a group of local workers secretly rehearsing to perform a new playat the celebration of Duke Theseus’s wedding. Oberon and his ever-faithful but wayward sidekick, Puck, decide to intervene in human affairs…what could possibly go wrong?
The action will be happening all around the audience so bring along a picnic, warm clothes and something to sit on and enjoy a midsummer evening of romance, slapstick, magic and mischief with confused lovers, bamboozled ham actors and feuding fairies.
A riotous romp is guaranteed along with a happy ending!
